North San Diego County as we define it, is Conveniently located as follows: Its Southern border is the beautiful city of San Diego, “America's Finest City” and its suburbs. Its Western border is the awesome Pacific Coast. Its Eastern border lies 10-30 miles inland from the coast along rolling hills with beautiful farms and avocado and citrus groves. Spacious Camp Pendleton establishes most of the Northern border and provides a buffer from the hustle and bustle of neighboring Orange County. Its length is approximately 26 miles along the Pacific coast and 32 miles along its Inland border and its width is approximately 10-30 miles. The coastal I-5 and parallel Inland I-15 North-South corridors, with their interconnecting Highway 78 East-West link, provide easy access between our fine cities and to the rest of California. San Marcos is near the center of North County that has 12 incorporated towns and cities and Rancho Bernardo, a community within San Diego's city limits. Their total population is approximately 780,000. These towns and cities are located (North to South, West to East): Fallbrook, Bonsall, Valley Center, Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Escondido, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Rancho Bernardo, Solana Beach and Del Mar.
