Visit Local Attractions and Activities for Children-

Here are some great local attractions and activities: Sandy Beaches in Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach or Del Mar, Surfing Lessons in Leucadia, Carlsbad's Legoland Theme Park, Vista's Wave Waterpark, Escondido's great San Diego Zoo Safari Park and the Escondido Children's Museum. They may also enjoy the friendly Free Flight Exotic Bird Sanctuary in Del Mar and the Butterfly Farm in Encinitas.

 

A Less Than One-hour Drive Will Take Them to-

La Jolla to the Birch Aquarium or to San Diego to: Sea World, the famous San Diego Zoo, the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster at Belmont Park or Balboa Park with its wonderful Reuben H. Fleet Science Center with an IMAX Theater and other attractions for children.

 

A Less Than One and a Half-hour Drive, Will Take Them to-

Anaheim to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure theme parks or to Buena Park's Knott's Berry Farm theme park.

 

An Approximate Two and a Half-hour Drive Will Take Them to-

Hollywood to Universal Studios or to Valencia to the Six-Flags Magic Mountain Theme Park.

Explore Our Coastal Beauty-

Walk, jog, swim, sunbath or play in the sand or surf at one of our fine Public Beaches, walk the Oceanside Pier and have lunch at Ruby's Diner at the end of the pier, visit the Oceanside Harbor and Marina or the beautiful nearby LaJolla Cove.

 

Visit Local Attractions-

Such as: San Marcos' scenic Double Peak Park, Encinitas' San Diego Botanical Gardens, La Costa's Museum of Making Music, or Oceanside's Museum of Art and Museum of Surfing. In March through early May, visit Carlsbad's Flower Fields. In June through early July, visit the excellent San Diego County Fair and throughout the  year, attend one of the many events held  at the Del Mar Fairgrounds .

 

Take a Leisure Drive-

Some interesting drives include: Drive up Palomar mountain and visit the famous Palomar Observatory. Drive north out of Fallbrook on De Luz Road, visit Santa Margarita Preserve and then proceed via Sandia Creek Drive through beautiful hills covered with avocado groves to Temecula and visit Temecula's Old Town and Wine Country. Drive east out of Escondido on Highway 78 to the unique village of Julian, a nice place to shop for gifts and to enjoy a slice of famous Julian Apple Pie. Drive to Palm Springs, explore this beautiful desert resort community and go for a ride on the famous Palm Springs Ariel Tram, up 8000 feet to where the temperature is 40 degrees cooler. In season, visit Anza Borrego State Park to see the beautiful desert wild flowers when they are in bloom.

 

Visit San Diego-

Explore San Diego and partake in the hundreds of things to do there such as: Harbor Cruises on San Diego Bay (dining, moonlight or mystery) cruises, riding the Flagship Ferry to visit  Coronado Island. Visiting beautiful Balboa Park with its 18 Museums and many Performing Arts and International organizations.

 

Give Them a Memorable Adventure-

Some examples are: Treat them to a Hot Air Balloon or Biplane Ride, a Whale Watching or Deep Sea Fishing excursion, a shopping experience in Tijuana or possibly a round-trip ride on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner train from Oceanside to Los Angeles for the day, for a self-guided walking tour of famous Olvera Street and Chinatown.

 

Take Them to a Live Performance, Casino Show, Ballet, Opera or Symphony-

You will find that we have a wide choice of Play Houses. Vista's Moonlight Stage Productions, Escondido's California Center for The Arts and San Diego's Lamb's Players Theater are among our favorites. San Diego also has a City Ballet, the San Diego Symphony and the  San Diego Opera. In addition, some great  Casino Shows are available at Valley Center's gambling casinos.

 

Take Them Gambling or Night Clubbing-

Treat them to gambling, fine dining and some excellent stage shows at the 4 Local Indian Gambling Casinos, to the Del Mar Racetrack to thoroughbred races when in season or to Satellite Wagering Horse Racing para-mutual betting during the off-season. Go dancing at the BellyUp Tavern in Solana Beach.

 

Sports Activities for Everyone-

Go Surfing- Our North County Beaches offer great surfing opportunities.

Go Golfing- Experts agree; North County is a golfer's paradise. Our Golf Course choices include some great courses such as famous local LaCosta ResortPark Hyatt Aviara and nearby Torrey Pines as well as large selection more affordable Nearby Golf Courses.

Go Fishing- Take a Deep Sea Fishing Excursion or fish from the Oceanside Pier (where you don't need to purchase a license and can rent fishing equipment and bait), or at one of our many Nearby Lakes.

Take a Hike- On one of the  160+ Walking + Running + Hiking Trails in San Diego's North County.

 

Treat Them to a Sporting Function-

San Diego's Padres Baseball and Los Angeles' Chargers Football are examples.

Give them a Surfing Lesson, Rent a Kayak or in the summertime, go swimming in the ocean.

 

Take a One or Two-day Trip-

Propose to your guests one of the myriad of possible short, one-two days of longer visits to Los Angeles, Hollywood, Palm Springs, Catalina Island other interesting nearby places, too numerous to mention here.
