What Do These Ratings Mean?
Our towns and cities are located close to each other and share amenities that make them great
retirement places. Indeed, many of their greatest attributes such as a
wonderful Climate and a plethora of Senior Activities are available throughout North County
and many of the reasons for awarding a high rating to one of our cities apply to their neighboring towns and cities.

More About "Best Retirement Place" Ratings-
Most “Best Retirement Places” ratings are based on hard statistics and
North San Diego County (North County) does well when rated this way. Actual great retirement living however is also
dependent upon many
immeasurable attributes. For example, to some people the best place to retire is where they
presently live, to others it is in the city where their grandchildren live and to others
it is a place where they can play golf 365 days per year. Our towns
and cities also offer many retirement-life attributes that are
difficult or impossible to measure. How do you measure the
value of- Being able to take a strenuous walk or play golf nearly every
afternoon of the year without having to take a shower afterwards in the summer or not having to
face a cold wind and snow and ice in the winter. How do you rank the mesmerizing sound of waves
hitting the shore or the sight of a beautiful Pacific sunset at one of our many (usually nearly-vacant),
public beaches, or the value of an excellent performance at Vista’s
Moonlight Amphitheater on a typical cool summer evening with no mosquitoes or
other bugs. How do you rank being a short 50 minute drive from San Diego, one
of the nation's top tourist cities where you can visit the world
famous San Diego Zoo, watch a Padres Baseball or Chargers Football game
or attend great Live Theater, Opera or Ballet performance? Or the value
of being able to eat out whenever you want to at one of the hundreds of excellent, mostly
inexpensive restaurants including some with beach-front views? Or
for that matter how do you rank the many enjoyable activities
that are available at our excellent Senior Centers- Exercising, dancing, attending parties,
taking classes, playing games, participating in
golf tournaments or daytrips, or just eating a nutritious $3.50 (for free
if you can't pay) lunch?
