NORTH SAN DIEGO COUNTY'S CLIMATES
Compared To Other Cities and Areas of the U.S.

The Table Below compares important climatic characteristics of various cities and towns throughout the United States:

The "Cooling Degree-Days" column gives a rough indication of how long your air conditioner would run during summer months if you were to set your thermostat to 65°F. In most cases, high Precipitation accompanied by high Average Summer Temperatures and a high number of Cooling Degree-Days is an indication of long periods of hot, humid "muggy" weather during the summer months. A low number of Cooling Degree-Days with moderate Average Summer Temperatures and low Precipitation indicates a high probability of comfortable summer weather.

The "Heating Degree-Days" column gives a rough indication of how long your Heating System would run during the winter months if you were to set your thermostat to 65°F. A high number in this column, accompanied by low Average Winter Temperatures gives an indication of cold and possibly lengthy winters.

The "Sum (of) Cooling  + Heating Degree-Days" column gives a rough indication of the average comfort level throughout the year. A lower number in this column indicates more days of out-door comfort throughout the year.
